RIB stands for Rigid Inflatable Boat. RIBs are constructed with a solid, hydroplaning hull made of glass fiber, reinforced composite or aluminum and flexible inflatable tubes at the gun whale. This combination provides many advantages over rigid or inflatable boats.
Light, high buoyancy, unsinkable, planes easy, smooth rides, shallow draught, high maneuverability, relative immunity to damage in low speed collisions, protective with a yacht's paint when in close contact and very high payload capacity are among the attributes given to RIBs.
